Penang Keracut Beach - turtles
The beaches at Penang National Park are among the turtle landing sites in the Peninsular. The turtle species that nest on these beaches include the Green (Chelonia mydas) and the Olive-Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) turtle species. Among the beaches that are locations for turtle landing are Pantai Keracut and Pantai Teluk Kampi.
There is a Turtle Conservation Centre establish in Pantai Keracut since 1990. The Turtle Conservation Centre perform management and conservation program include turtle educational program, research and observation program, R & D program and so on.

Penang National Park – Muka Head Lighthouse

Muka head Lighthouse
The historical Muka Head Lighthouse is sited on a granite peak with steep slopes and rocky cliffs fronting the coastline of the Straits of Malacca. Built in 1883, this vintage lighthouse is a historical site to visit by following a steep jungle trail at Muka Head.

Penang National Park - Meromictic Lake
The meromictic lake in Pantai Keracut is the only lake with meromictic charateristics in Malaysia and its total area is estimated to be approximately 2.77 square km. The natural lake resulting from a seasonal phenomenon. During low tides and dry seasons, the lake becomes a field of mudflats, with hardy, terrestrial grass. During spring tides, seawater enters through a one metre wide opening to fill the lake slowly. The two layers of fresh and seawater never mix, hence the name meromictic.

Penang National Park is located at the northwest corner of Penang Island overlooking the Straits of Malacca. The park is about 400 km from Kuala Lumpur and about 30 km (45 minutes) from Georgetown, Penang.
The natural attractions of Penang National Park include the Hill Dipterocarp Forests, Sandy Beach habitats, unique seasonal meromictic lake, historical Light house and turtle species that nest on the Keracut beach.
